As the Year of Knowledge begins, we are opening registration for the 16th season of our “Tax Foundation Course”. This is a training programme created by PwC Latvia experts that invites people with various backgrounds to become familiar with the Latvian tax system and learn how to apply taxes properly under the direction of highly qualified and experienced lecturers. This programme has been completed by more than 1,100 company representatives and individuals wishing to enhance their understanding and consolidate their knowledge of tax matters.
CEOs, accountants, financial and tax professionals, lawyers, consultants, HR officers and workers facing questions about legislation in their day-to-day work all want to make sure they are not missing any important amendments and are able to foresee potential risks early and get ready for change. So it’s important to know how to navigate relevant resources, consider possible situations, and choose the best solutions.
Since the content of our Tax Foundation Course not only provides a foundation of theoretical knowledge but is based on practical examples and the lecturers’ experience, the knowledge you gain in this training will have special value added in workshops where you fill in tax returns, study examples of payroll calculations and determine the place of supply of goods, with case studies of loans to related parties, bad debts, royalties, various exclusions, etc.
Our Tax Foundation Course lecturers are experienced PwC experts and qualified professionals who work with Latvian and international companies in various industries, take part in drafting and discussing new laws with government agencies, and are well-versed in Latvian and foreign tax systems.
To help our participants check their newly acquired knowledge during our classes, we offer a chance to take self-assessment tests. Afterwards, the lecturers will explain the correct answers and the participants will receive files with the right answers.
Our classes will engage you interactively with quick questions and answers, examples and case studies, etc. Participants will receive all necessary materials electronically and a PwC’s Academy certificate on completing the full training programme or particular modules. We offer a chance to take exams on completing the modules “Taxes on Personal Income”, “Value Added Tax” and “Corporate Income Tax”.
Nowadays it’s possible for everyone to gain knowledge at a convenient place and time. Being aware that our participants may be staying anywhere in Latvia or even abroad, we offer this training online. If you are unable to attend an online class, we will provide you with a video recording.
The training runs on Mondays or Wednesdays 14.00–17.30 and the language of instruction is Latvian.
An especially advantageous early bird offer expires on 13 October!
Our Tax Foundation Course participants have the option to complete the full course (12 modules) or pick particular tax modules.
Our past graduates have praised the quality of this training programme and how they can apply the newly acquired knowledge in their day-to-day work.

The European Sustainability Reporting Standards, which we had been awaiting since the adoption of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, were approved in late July. The current economic challenges, such as high inflation, scarce resources and pressures to increase profitability, continue pushing businesses towards a global dilemma: either motivate your workers to stay on with a pay rise and then say goodbye to your profit, or cancel your plans for higher pay and perks and then lose skilled workers. This dilemma might have you looking for some more efficient types of employer’s financial support with a low or no tax burden, such as non-taxable fringe benefits. This article offers an overview of exempt fringes and other useful tools employers can use to support their workers in the Baltic States.
